Why Choose Reactive

Why Choose Reactive

🎨
Deep Colour Penetration

Reactive dyes form a covalent bond with the fabric fibre — colours penetrate deep for rich, lasting results that don't sit on the surface.

🧺
Outstanding Wash Fastness

Prints withstand repeated washing without fading. Ideal for garment export with strict wash fastness requirements.

🔬
Fine Detail & Sharp Lines

The MS JP7's piezo print heads deliver ultra-fine detail, sharp contours and smooth gradients at high resolution.

🌿
Eco-Friendly Ink System

Water-based reactive inks — lower chemical load, less water waste than conventional screen printing methods.

High-Speed Output

The MS JP7 is engineered for industrial throughput — up to 5,000+ metres per day at Tirupur's pace.

🎯
Colour Consistency

ICC profiled digital workflow with repeat accuracy — every batch matches your approved lab dip exactly.

Before You Send

Fabric Preparation Guide

Get the best print results — ensure your fabric meets these requirements before dispatch.

🚫

No Softener or Silicone

Softener and silicone finishes create a surface barrier — reactive ink beads off and washes out. Send fabric with no finish or light starch only.

🚫

No Optical Brighteners

OBA (optical brightening agents) cause colour shift under UV light and affect colour accuracy. Bio-scoured, bleached white base only.

Bio-Zero / Enzyme Treated

Surface fuzz and pilling cause blurry print edges. Fabric must be bio-zero or enzyme treated for a clean, even print surface.

💧

Water Absorbency Test

Place a water drop on the fabric — it must absorb fully within 3 seconds. Poor absorbency means ink sits on the surface and washes off.

Common Questions

Reactive Printing FAQs

Reactive printing works on all cellulose-based fabrics — 100% cotton, linen, viscose, and natural blends. It works on all woven constructions (poplin, voile, twill, plain) and all knit constructions (jersey, interlock, rib, terry, waffle, ponte). Avoid synthetic blends — reactive dye bonds only to cellulose fibres and will not penetrate polyester or nylon.

Reactive dye chemically bonds into the fabric fibre — the colour becomes part of the fabric. This gives superior wash fastness (4–5/5), soft hand feel, and bright, deep colours. Pigment printing sits on top of the fabric and can feel stiff with lower wash fastness. Screen printing uses physical screens and is limited in colour count and design complexity — reactive digital printing has no such limits.

On properly prepared 100% cotton, we consistently achieve wash fastness of 4–5 on a scale of 5 (ISO 105-C06 standard). Linen achieves 4/5. Viscose achieves 3–4/5 due to its open fibre structure. Fabric preparation — especially bio-scouring, enzyme treatment, and no softener — is critical to achieving maximum fastness ratings.

There is no minimum order at Arunam Digital Prints. We accept everything from a single metre sample swatch to bulk production runs of thousands of metres. This makes us ideal for sampling, short-run fashion, and large export orders alike.

The fabric should be bio-scoured and bleached to a clean white base, enzyme-treated (bio-zero/anti-pilling), free of softener or silicone finish, and free of optical brighteners (OBA). Water absorbency must be good — a water drop should absorb within 3 seconds. Roll the fabric on a tube, clean and dry, with no oil stains or contamination. See our full Fabric Preparation Guide above for complete requirements.
